No one plans to get divorced when they get married, but it still happens to around 42% of couples in the UK, according to the Office for National Statistics, and the number may be rising.

Even if you have seen it coming for some time, it’s normal to feel numb. Working through the practicalities that your decision involves, can feel overwhelming.

You may be feeling powerless and angry about what’s happening if you hadn’t wanted the relationship to end. Compounded with a sense of loss and sadness.
